Indonesia’s Free Medical Check-Up (CKG) program has screened more than 105 million people since its launch in February 2025, meeting nearly 81% of the government’s annual target. As part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita agenda, the initiative delivers age-specific health evaluations through community centers, schools, and public outreach efforts. Its goal is to improve preventive care and detect diseases early.
Participation in the program has climbed consistently. By December 2025, it had reached 70.3 million individuals, then increased to 73.8 million by July 2026. By October of that year, the total had surpassed 105 million, with 62.7 million examinations conducted at health centers and 11.1 million in schools. Among the 15.2 million students screened, dental problems were the most common, affecting 40.9% of them. Other frequently identified conditions included anemia, hypertension, and obesity.
Initial findings demonstrate the program’s impact. In August 2026, repeated screenings uncovered 1 million previously undetected cases of hypertension among 9.2 million participants. Additionally, 188,000 new diabetes diagnoses emerged from 8.3 million examinations. Since both conditions often develop without noticeable symptoms, regular check-ups play a vital role in early intervention.
The government has also connected the program to immediate medical support. Individuals diagnosed with health concerns receive 15 days of free treatment through the National Health Insurance (JKN) system. Implementation standards were established in February 2026 under Ministry of Health Decree HK.01.07/Menkes/84/2026, ensuring uniform procedures nationwide.
Despite its progress, the initiative faces ongoing hurdles. While coverage has expanded significantly, persistent issues include incomplete follow-up care, uneven service distribution, and staffing shortages. The government remains focused on refining the program to support its Golden Indonesia 2045 strategy, which emphasizes sustainable health improvements and economic growth.
